Stop Being a Prompt: How to Build a Brand That Feels Human and Authentic

You're not like the rest of them, right? Then why do your profiles look like theirs, your posts sound so generic, and all your TikToks/Reels get lost in a sea of viral "niche" content?

The quick answer is simple: You're performing, trying to fit in a niche that you most probably outgrew a while ago, or never really belonged to in the first place, but virality overpowered performance and conversion as a signs of business/creator success and everyone starting compulsively using hooks, prompts, formulas and boom: Now they're all the same, and not many of them are actually connecting anymore or selling in a normal way.
Look around. LinkedIn is a sea of beige, hyper-generic posts and replies, and Instagram is a parade of "3 Tips to [Insert blah-blah-blah here]." We are drowning in a digital uncanny valley where everyone is using the same AI-generated hooks and the same polished aesthetic that feels as cold as a doctor’s waiting room.
If your brand feels like a template, you are invisible, and people will never remember you, no matter how many blogs, posts, and episodes you make. In an era of automation, the only thing that cannot be disrupted is your soul and your identity.
The "Generic" Trap
Most branding consultants tell you to look at your competitors and "do it better." I’m telling you to look at your competitors and do something else entirely. Building a human brand isn't just about having a nice logo or a fun color palette. It’s about having a defined Energetic Signature. It’s about the way a client feels when they read your copy — do they feel like they’re being "marketed to," or do they feel like they’ve just had a shot of espresso (or a nice chai... or tequila) with a soul sister who actually gets it?
The Anatomy of a Human-Centric Brand
The Shadow and the Light: Generic brands only show the wins, and usually use the most ridiculous, unnatural language. Human brands show the scars, the process, the transformation, and yes, the wins too, of course. Don't just share your "success story"; share the moment you almost burned it all down, or burned yourself down, because I know you did, didn't you? That’s where the trust is built!
Ditch the Jargon: If you use words like "leverage," "value-add," "delve," or "pivoting" in every sentence, you’re sounding like a bot; those are dead giveaways of AI-generated content abuse. You may use some of those in real life, I know I do, but let's go back to speaking like you’re at a rooftop dinner at a 2016 networking event — elegant, sharp, persuasive, lowkey exaggerated, if you may, but always real.
That's Sensory Branding, and it's super beneficial for your brand, especially if you're working on your personal brand, as a leader, or a solopreneur. A human brand must have a scent, a sound, and a vibe, just like you do. Even in digital spaces, your choice of words should evoke a feeling, and people should associate it with you, no matter when or where. Are you velvet, jazz, and candlelight? Or are you bright neon and high-voltage energy? Both are amazing, if they're truly yours.
Why Playing "Safe" is Your Biggest Risk When Building a Brand
People are terrified of being "too much" or "too polarizing." But in the world of high-end branding and legacy, neutrality is a death sentence. Think of 2-3 luxury brands you like, even if you're not their customer, you might follow some online and really, really like them. They have strong differentiators, and that's part of what makes them so aspirational. Many don't recognize it, but people often aspire to have what "rich" people/brands evoke: they're rich... in freedom, in signatures, in experiences, in distinction, and they can just exist and will be remembered; luxury brands capitalize on it. If you try to speak to everyone, you end up whispering to no one.
When you inject your brand with your actual essence — your spiritual beliefs, your quirky humor, your unpopular opinions — you create a gravitational pull. You stop chasing clients and start attracting them. In other words, speak to the right people with confidence, and many more will come for the value you already bring.
Remember: Your brand isn't what you say you are; it’s the emotional residue you leave behind.
